About

DWLD is a foundation of a collective of women who are differently abled. Coming together to educate society of different abilities “disabilities”, faced by women, breaking down barriers of societal stigma, misinterpretations, towards developing programmes that will showcase the different capabilities of these women. The foundation will advocate for change and transformation in the space of people living with abilities “disabilities”. Women with “disabilities” (abilities) across the world, largely remain marginalised, due to stereotyping, misinterpretations, and sheer ignorance. It is estimated that 10 percent of the world’s population consists of people with disabilities, with the majority being women, mostly in developing countries.

Causes of disabilities range from accidents, violence, and natural birth defects. In developing countries, lack of proper health facilities, inadequate treatment and lack of knowledge exacerbates this problem. Women, specifically find it difficult to find employment or be accepted within society as individuals who are capable of performing work tasks efficiently. This assumption requires a change in perspective, as people with disabilities should be granted the equal opportunities and fairness.

This foundation aims to identify challenges and opportunities, then advocate for the integration of people with “disabilities: within society on issues of Gender, Health, Education, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Lifestyle
